THE IMPACTS OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON SECTORAL PERFORMANCE: A REVIEW ON THE BIST SECTORS IN TURKEY

This study aims to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on sectoral performance and reveal how has influenced certain sectors. In this study, 5-year (2016-2020) financial data a total 250 companies operating under 22 sub-sectors in BIST were analyzed using ratio analysis method. The results demonstrated that some sectors adversely affected by pandemic, whereas others positively affected. adverse impacts observed 10 sectors, including Construction Public Works, Restaurants Hotels, Transportation Storage, Sports Activities, Amusement Recreation Activities. On other hand, positive identified 12 Crop Animal Production, Hunting Related Service Food, Beverage Tobacco, Wood Products Including Furniture, Chemicals, Petroleum, Rubber Plastic Products, Wholesale Retail Trade, Telecommunication. reveals possible performance.
